Quiet murmurs escaped the small boy’s lips as he lay down to sleep, emotionally and physically sapped from this seemingly endless Hell of a day. More than often, the boy could persist his competence and awareness until approximately ten o’ clock in the evening, but this night he simply could not maintain his consciousness. “Good night, Sebastian.”
Eyes like royal gemstones ended their use for the time-being, closing in fatigue. It was not long — a good four or five minutes, at the very most — until the male slipped into his own province of sovereignty and malice.
The sleepy delusions of Ciel Phantomhive were ones of a world of his own wrathful reign and control of all — the very atmosphere he hoped he could one day spend his attentive hours in.
Perhaps some could call him psychotic, deranged, demented…. but the Earl was just a walking Hell.

He waited. Sebastian waited patiently for the child to drift into sleep - a luxury Sebastian could never experience. The demon felt nervous. It was odd and unnatural. For some reason Sebastian would not move from his Master's bedside. He stood like a statue, a knight ready to be called upon. But he was never called upon. He did not need to be. Perhaps Sebastian stood there to protect his Master. From what? Maybe it was the nightmares that constantly plagued the boy's sleep. He'd wail and scream like a dying angel and each time he did it Sebastian could feel a sickening feeling rise in his chest. It was a feeling he had never experienced before. He could feel it. Pain. It was deafening, yet silent - like snow falling in the dead of night. It might have been beautiful if it had not been for the fact that every time he felt it, his Master was suffering. But Sebastian knew one thing. He knew he had feelings. That was beautiful. A demon experiencing emotion. It was beautiful, but yet again horrific. A creature from Hell sympathizing with humans. It was unsightly. It meant Sebastian was weak. Wasn't all beauty weak? How can something be delicate, but also strong and independent? He was a horrid creature. He did not deserve such beautiful feelings. Yet they came. It hurt. It felt like his chest was being ripped apart and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Ciel's cries were worse than a blow from a death scythe. Nothing could compare to the beautiful feelings the demon experienced when his Master was in peril. In truth, he longed to feel. He knew it was selfish and at the expense of his Master, but it felt good. Sebastian waited. He stood silently, watching over his sleeping Master. It was one of the few times he had addressed him. Goodnight, Sebastian. That sweet voice still rang in his ears like church bells. Beautiful. Sebastian was not just waiting for those screams, no. He wanted to feel that pain, but it was the feeling after the pain that he so craved. He couldn't put a name to it. Perhaps it was remorse. No, it was not remorse. Nor was it pity. He was always beside Ciel when he would scream, waking up the child and comforting him. Ciel would grab onto him for support and Sebastian would hold him. Sebastian felt needed. He felt wanted. And that is when the feeling would occur. That feeling was pure beauty. Sebastian thought he was incapable of emotion. He was. He was until Ciel Phantomhive entered his life. That boy had made the impossible possible. He had made a demon love him. Sebastian loved this child. But would he be able to say it? For now, he waited. He mulled over his thoughts and watched the sweet sleeping boy in the large bed. He felt the need to protect him. Sebastian would protect Ciel without fail. It was his duty as a butler, promise as a demon, and obligation as a caretaker. Sebastian wanted to feel tonight, but he was conflicted. He knew Ciel hurt every time he would have those nightmares. He did not want Ciel to hurt. He only wished to feel as humans do.

Quiet whispers slipped from the boy as he slept, accompanying dreadful nightmares; these noises were nearly inaudible and unable to be distinguished. Moments of silence followed his subtle murmurs, causing a tense aura of thickness to pollute the air around the two of them. This night was just like any other night -- wasn't it? Nothing had felt too different in the little Earl's waking hours. The clock had ticked by his day painfully slowly, his lessons had practically sent him to sleep, and his clothes made him feel hot and stuffy. The servants were febrile and vociferous, also as per the usual.
If everything had been so average during the light hours, why was this night so...unusual?
Without warning, sapphire blues shot open and the young male was pulled violently from his world of sleep. Nothing had physically woken him; he had woken himself, and such an occurrence was terribly odd. More than often, Ciel was unmotivated to go through the day and his demon would have to practically drag him out of his snug King-sized bed.
"Sebastian?" A voice inquired softly, those brilliant gems of his staring up at the man's toned frame. There was no time for questions now; not that the Earl was awake enough to think of any to ask. "I want you to lie down with me." His tone remained close to silent; speaking loudly would not only wake the others who resided in the manor, but would also ruin the relaxed mood of the hours of darkness. "Stay with me all night long."

What did that mean? Why would his Master ask this of him? He was afraid at first, unsure of what to do or say. This was so different, so very different. The demon nodded. "Of course, Young Master," he stated quietly, "I will remain by your side." Sebastian slipped out of his shoes and sat on top of the bed. He almost spoke, but decided not to. He did not want his butler image to be tarnished in any variation. The demon laid next to his Master, his movements slow and not abrupt. He did not reach out to touch Ciel - that could end up badly. He would let the boy come to him. The boy might not even do that. Sebastian gazed at the one next to him. It was the first time in his long life that he was unsure of himself.
"I'm here. Nothing is going to hurt you," he promised, his voice soft. He knew his Master was not weak, but the boy was nowhere near being able to cope with the emotional trauma he had experienced. Sebastian only wished he would be able to hide his emotions. If it was found out that he had feelings, he would be ridiculed nonstop. However, he was shocked that his Master had asked for him to stay. It had brought a new sensation of emotion. Something to further make the demon overwhelmed.

"I know that. But...without you..." Visions of his night terrors ran through his head, playing before him like a motion picture of the most horrific sort. The male internally, shook his head, temporarily shaking out all of his flashbacks and fears with it. "...without you, I'd be dead. I shouldn't be here today, Sebastian. I was destined to die. I tempted fate to survive. I am not supposed to be here..."
Ciel closed his eyes, throwing an arm around the taller man loosely. "But, I am here. I am here by your side in this very moment. There must be some reason that I exist -- and even if it is solely to carry out my revenge, then so be it. I am content with anything so long as I am with you..." The boy was the type to spill everything when he was exhausted, and he had never been more so than this evening.

Sebastian listened carefully, looking into the boy's eyes. "You are more than that, Young Master... I will not leave you, if that is what you wish," he said, carefully reaching a hand to gently stroke the bluenette's cheek. We was as sweet and comforting as he could possibly be, trying his best to look loving. He was unsure in the first place if he was doing it right or not, his thoughts more focused on protecting the other.
"Your existence means so much more than you think, Young Master," he breathed, a frown evident on his pale visage. He was worried about his Master, seeing him so vulnerable was terrifying... He was used to the boy being so brave and proud. He felt closer to the boy, but also more afraid. Showing emotion was terrifying.
